The City of Hiawatha has announced the selection of David Villanueva as the new police chief. Villanueva, with 31 years of law enforcement experience, will begin his duties on May 4th. City Administrator Brad Scott expressed confidence in Villanueva’s ability to lead the department effectively. Villanueva, a former Army military policeman and veteran of the Oxnard and Salina Police Departments, aims to promote community policing in Hiawatha. He plans to maintain an open-door policy and engage with local residents to enhance public safety.
