Doniphan County sheriff’s deputy Grady Miller was honored with the Life Saving Award for his heroic actions in rescuing a suicidal juvenile from the Missouri River. Deputy Miller responded to a mental health call in Elwood on December 10th, 2025, and without hesitation, entered the river to save the youth. In addition to the Life Saving Award, Deputy Miller will receive the Kansas Valor Award in May. He joined the Doniphan County Sheriff’s Department in January 2025 after serving with the Hiawatha Police Department.
