Brown County Emergency Management has formed a Wildland Fire Task Force to aid in combating wildfires in southwest Kansas. The task force, consisting of personnel from multiple fire departments, is heading to Ashland, Kansas to support firefighting efforts. Ten firefighters and five apparatus are being deployed to assist with the ongoing wildfires that have already burned over 100,000 acres in Meade and Clark counties. Evacuations were initiated on Sunday due to the wildfires, which are still affecting parts of southwest Kansas.
