The annual Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast will return to the Civic Arena on Thursday, May 7 featuring guest speaker George Dennehy.
The event coincides with the National Day of Prayer and will center on the theme: “Glorify God Among the Nations, Seeking Him in All Generations.”
The program begins with an opening prayer at 6:45 a.m. and will feature contributions from St. Joseph’s mayor, local pastors, students, and community leaders.
Dennehy, a classical cellist who was born without arms, will share his journey of overcoming physical and emotional adversity. In a 2024 interview, Dennehy noted that while learning to navigate the world physically was a hurdle, the internal shift was his greatest victory.
“The greatest challenge was the emotional aspect of being different,” Dennehy said. “It was hard to learn to accept, love, and be proud of my disability. But once I did, everything changed! Perspective matters!”
Dennehy travels globally to share his message that every individual possesses a divine purpose, regardless of the challenges they face.
