To ring in St. Patrick’s Day with safety in mind, the St. Joseph Police Department and the Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office conducted a coordinated, two-day Traffic Saturation Enforcement operation on March 14 and March 17.

The joint initiative focused on high-visibility patrols and proactive enforcement to deter impaired driving and ensure safe travel during one of the year’s busiest holiday weekends. By combining resources, both agencies were able to increase coverage across the city and county.

Operation Results:

• 92 Traffic Stops
• 36 Bar Checks (monitoring compliance and disturbances)
• 32 City Citations
• 11 City Warnings
• 5 Arrests for Driving While Suspended/Revoked
• 5 DWI Arrests (County)

Despite the increased patrol presence, officials noted that the relatively low number of DWI arrests is a positive indicator for the community.
