The St. Joseph Streets Division will close a section of the Southwest Parkway beginning March 17 for essential infrastructure improvements, city officials announced.

The closure is required to replace a crossroad culvert south of the Fairview Golf Course parkway entrance. The project is designed to improve drainage and roadway safety.

The work is expected to take approximately one week, weather permitting. Following the culvert installation, a contractor will perform outfall work in the area, which officials say will not require further road closures

Motorists are advised to use alternate routes and should note the following traffic impacts:

  • Southbound Traffic: The roadway will be closed to through traffic at Duncan Road. A full closure will be in effect south of the Fairview Golf Course entrance. Access to the golf course’s parkway entrance and exit will remain open.
  • Northbound Traffic: The roadway will be closed to through traffic at 28th Street. A full closure will be in effect north of Bryce Road. Golf course traffic must enter and exit from the 33rd Street entrance.

Local access will be maintained where possible. City officials say updates will be provided if weather or unforeseen circumstances delay the schedule.
