The Hiawatha City Commission has approved an agreement with developer Michael Webb for a new housing development called the Villas of Beautiful Maples. The project will include ten duplex units and is expected to cost about 1.7 million dollars. The city will be responsible for installing public infrastructure for the development, with funding coming from a state grant and a Rural Housing Incentive District. Construction on the infrastructure is set to begin in August, with the duplex units scheduled for completion by the second quarter of 2027.
