A recent audit of the Missouri Department of Conservation found that the department is well managed overall but needs to improve transparency. The audit identified areas where the department can enhance controls and procedures, such as increasing transparency in meeting disclosures and ensuring salary policies are consistently applied. Additionally, the audit highlighted the need for improved controls and procedures for the Agriculture Crop Policy and Procedures Manual and the timber sales checklist. The audit also noted that the Department of Conservation Employees’ Benefit Plan Board of Trustees had not implemented some prior audit findings related to the administration of the plan.
