U.S. customs officials are working on a system to deliver tariff refunds within 45 days following the Supreme Court’s decision to strike down many of President Trump’s tariffs. Small business owners have expressed concerns about potentially having to file individual lawsuits to receive their refunds. U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials are developing a streamlined process that would not require importers to file individual lawsuits, aiming to use the same electronic portal importers already rely on. Judge Richard Eaton of the U.S. Court of International Trade has ordered U.S. Customs to begin refunding tariffs immediately with interest, rejecting a Justice Department request to pause the process for 90 days.
