Two fugitives are in custody following a high-stakes police standoff in St. Joseph Wednesday morning.

Authorities say a vehicle fled from U-S Marshals and Buchanan County deputies before the suspects holed up in an apartment near Sixteenth and Faraon. Captain Shawn Collie says the man and woman “mazed” through ceilings and walls to reach another unit before being found in a bathroom. No injuries were reported, though the suspects face new fleeing charges in addition to their existing felony warrants.
