Scrap Management Industries made a donation to VFW Post 6760 in St. Joseph on Friday afternoon to help with veteran relief efforts.
Director of Procurement for Scrap Management Industries, Matt McCarthy, says the $1,000 donation was inspired by wanting to give back to the community in ways that reflect the values of the company. “We look at organizations within the community that have the same values as us. The VFW has those same values; taking care of people and taking care of the community. We live here, we work here, we reinvest back into the St, Joseph community.”
The donation was presented by three employees of Scrap Management Industries, including McCarthy who spent over 8 years in the Army, general manager Ken Barber who is a Marine Corp veteran, and Kylee Hager who is currently in the National Guard.
VFW Post 6760 plans to use the donation to help with veteran relief efforts throughout the St. Joseph area.
Scrap Management Industries has 19 locations throughout Missouri, Kansas and Oklahoma.
