The City of St. Joseph, in coordination with Union Pacific Railroad, will temporarily close several roads on Thursday, March 12, and Friday, March 13, for pavement repairs at two railroad crossings.

Motorists should anticipate detours and increased traffic control throughout the duration of the project.

Thursday, March 12:

City crews will conduct flagging operations at the crossing at Industrial Road and Lower Lake Road. Simultaneously, the crossing at Lower Lake Road will be fully closed from Industrial Road to 1986 Lower Lake Road.

Detour Routes:

  • Westbound: South on Stockyards Expressway, west on Alabama Street, and north on Industrial Road to Lower Lake Road.
  • Eastbound: South on Industrial Road, east on Alabama Street, and north on Stockyards Expressway.

Friday, March 13:

Bluff View Drive will be closed from Stockyards Expressway to Lower Lake Road for continued crossing repairs.

Detour Routes:

  • Westbound Lower Lake Traffic: South on Stockyards Expressway, west on Alabama Street, and north on Industrial Road to Lower Lake Road.
  • Eastbound Lower Lake Traffic: South on Industrial Road, east on Alabama Street, and north on Stockyards Expressway.

The project is weather-dependent and subject to material availability. Officials urge motorists to exercise caution, follow all posted signage, and allow for extra travel time.
