The Atchison community is mourning the loss of Betty Rose Brown, one of the first civilian dispatchers for the Atchison Police Department. Brown passed away at the age of 86 after a career spanning over three decades in public safety. She formed lasting friendships with officers and firefighters and was actively involved in the community through various organizations. Services for Brown are scheduled for March 12, with a homegoing service to be live-streamed for those unable to attend in person.
