On Feb. 6, United States Senator Jerry Moran held a press conference at Elwood City Hall to announce that the Elwood Police Department has been awarded $402,000 in federal funding.

Information from the City of Elwood says the funding will be used to replace two patrol vehicles that are nearing the end of their service life, as well as to replace patrol radios that are no longer serviceable.

The funding will also allow for the replacement of body-worn camera and in-car dash camera systems in all department vehicles.

The City of Elwood says the investment will help ensure officers have reliable equipment and technology necessary to continue providing professional, effective law enforcement services to the Elwood community.
