A St. Joseph man has been convicted of child molestation and rape after a jury trial in St. Joseph.

The Buchanan County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office reports a jury took a little more than an hour and a half to convict 33-year-old Johnathan Sears of two counts of Child Molestation in the Second Degree and one count of Rape in the First Degree. The jury also found Sears guilty of three counts of sodomy.

St. Joseph police arrested Sears for incidents that occurred in 2022 and 2023 between Sears and two children; one age six, the other age nine.

A sentencing hearing has been set for February 2nd.
